Florence (Italy), 8-10 September 2025
Background
Computational methods offer a vast kit of tools allowing to overcome the limitations of analytical tractability
in modelling. Many of these methods are increasingly used in economics, and the theoretical implications
of topics such as non-linearity, network analysis, agent heterogeneity, bounded rationality, learning, and
interaction are increasingly recognized in the economic literature. The DISEI Workshop on Heterogeneity,
Evolution, and Networks in Economics aims to provide an opportunity to spread and disseminate the most
recent research on these issues.
Aims and scope
The workshop aims to bring together researchers from different countries working on the role of heterogeneity
of economic agents, their interaction in a network structure, and the evolutionary dynamics of the economic
system. The selection of contributions will favor junior researchers. The main focus will be on computational
and dynamic models and their applications in the economic domain, with a particular emphasis on economic
policies. In particular, the call for papers includes the following topics (but not limited to):
Computational Economics
AI and LLM in Economics
Network Theory and Applications
Nonlinear Economic Dynamics
Economic Growth and Poverty Traps
Evolutionary Game Theory
Dynamic Games
Heterogeneous Agents Models in Economics and Finance
Market Microstructure & Fundamentals
Trade & Global Value Chains
Industrial & Environmental Policy
Macroeconomic Stabilization
Invited Speakers
Prof. Costas Azariadis, Washington University in St. Louis
Dr. Maria Del Rio-Chanona, University College of London
Special Issue
Accepted papers may be considered for a special issue in the Journal of Evolutionary Economics.
